Engagement with the community, and especially with our many partners in the Tampa Bay region, shapes the educational and scholarly mission of the School of Public Affairs.
We emphasize engaged learning across our curriculum.
Our students interact with local practitioners and address real world problems through applied research projects and service learning classes.
We are home to several flourishing internship programs.
Our Public Policy Internships are open to all USF students, and place students with government and nonprofit agencies at national, state and local level. Health Science students are placed in internships in their field of study.
Urban and Regional Planning and Public Administration graduate students can be found interning with planning firms, government agencies and nonprofits. Agency directors interested in mentoring our students can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about posting internship opportunities.
Our faculty researches regional and national issues.
From the impact of rising sea levels, government adoption of new technologies, administrative and school reform, and much more, SPA faculty are active in identifying and developing solutions in our community. SPA is also home to research centers and institutes including the Florida Institute of Government, the Sunshine State Survey and the USF Center for Brownfields Research and Redevelopment.
